Swallowcliffe Primary School
Davoren Park, South Australia
Department for Education
Year of completion:
Swallowcliffe P-7 creates ‘next generation’ learning environments for staff and children aspiring to break through challenging social and economic disadvantage. Here was a real opportunity to implement Education’s strategic plan of ‘every chance for every child’ through a wide suite of transformational learning spaces using innovative design and community pride as grounding principles.
The building incorporates one of the first custom built STEM facilities for Primary Years on a DECD Site which consists of 3 flexible studios with outdoor learning links. In addition to this the project included a whole school transformation through the refurbishment of both the Lower and Upper Primary wings, expanded administration and passive security planning, a public entry as well as interactive and contained nature play outdoor areas off each GLA. This was enabled through multiple staging (7 stages) which allowed the school functions to continue. The result was striking architecture that supports innovative learning programs, inspiring staff and students.
