This stunning conversion encompassed an intricate and extensive range of alterations to an existing two storey townhouse in one of Sydney’s most prestigious residential areas. The culmination of over three years of design work, our brief has evolved to create an outstanding conversion of an existing residence into a thoroughly contemporary lifestyle statement for a family of four.

Located within a heritage conservation zone, the alterations juxtapose retainment of historical fabric with new modern spaces that exploit space, light, and finishes of the highest quality. Working within significant regulatory and area restrictions, the completed works are an excellent example of high quality living within a physically limited site.

Our team provided a full professional service to explore new generic accommodation layouts, workplace studies, utility and workstation studies to provide a totally new internal environment within a capped works budget. A key aspect to the planning and implementation to this project was the fact that the tenancy was totally occupied, with very little de-canting space available. In addition, the ground floor reception area was substantially upgraded whilst still in operation, successfully executed through diligent staging. The resulting transformation was completed on time and within budget, with excellent integration of a new work environment for all staff and customers.

Wallaroo Day Surgery

Wallaroo Day Surgery

Project location:
Wallaroo, South Australia

Client:
NYPRHS Inc

Year of completion:
1998

Project cost/budget:
$1.0M

Project description:
This project ensued from a decision by the Board of the NYPRHS to provide the regional hospital with new Day Surgery Facilities, offering the community significant benefits in reduced hospital stays. The key problem centred on the requirement to utilise existing facilities wherever possible, in order to avoid duplication of expensive facilities.

Subsequently, an innovative plan was developed in conjunction with medical staff to overcome severe planning and staffing restrictions and still provide a modern, well-integrated facility. Architecturally, the exterior of the building utilises lightweight construction to allow future expansion without prohibitive cost, a common problem encountered with highly serviced buildings housing rapidly evolving functions.
